Tanning Beds
You know that tanning beds work, but have you
ever wondered how they work? How do they give you that golden tan so much
quicker than natural sunlight? In this article, we will explain how
tanning beds work.
How Tanning Beds Work
Tanning beds work by simulating the UV rays
that the sun puts off. The sun puts off two types of UV light, UVA and UVB.
UVA has a longer wave length and penetrates your skin more deeply. This is
the light that causes your skin to tan. Tanning bed bulbs put off over 90%
UVA light which is three times more than the sun puts off. Since they put
off more of this light, they tan you much faster.
Remember, since tanning beds put off the same UV light that the sun puts
off, they are no safer than tanning in the sun. They are just quicker.
Types Of Tanning Beds
There are two main styles of tanning beds. You
have the vertical tanning bed and the horizontal bed. They are both
effective at tanning and it basically comes down to personal preference
and budget.
Horizontal Tanning
Bed
With the horizontal tanning bed, you actually
lay down on the bed. This is the most common bed since it tends to be less
expensive.
Vertical Tanning Bed
With the vertical bed, you actually stand up
while inside it. This will actually give you a more natural tan since no
parts of your body are laying on the bed being distorted. You might also
find this type of bed more comfortable since you will not have to lay on
hard plastic.
